In Loving Memory of King 

Robert Jules Chaumont,

October 3, 1948 - July 23, 2019

Robert Jules Chaumont was born on October 3, 1948 in Suffern, NY to William Jules Chaumont and Ruth Louise Exselsen. 

He had an older brother, Billy, and younger sister, Betty. His father was an artist, chef, merchant marine, and spoke five languages fluently. His mother had a big heart and loved helping others.
Robert grew up in Manhattan next to Columbia University and was raised by his uncle, Robert Exselsen, who was a true Renaissance man.
He influenced Robert’s love of learning, books, science, and virtually every subject. Robert has a passion for languages and speaks Spanish, German, Korean, Russian, and many other languages.
 

Robert joined the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity at the age of 26. He met his spiritual father, a Japanese missionary named Ryoichiro Sawada, in front of the New York Public Library on George Washington’s birthday, February 22, 1975.

Robert’s most fulfilling time in the church was working on the Yankee Stadium Campaign in 1976 in Brooklyn, NY with team leader James Baughman and team mother Felice Hart.

In 1983-1985, Robert attended the Unification Theological Seminary (UTS) and graduated with a Master’s degree in Religious Education. Robert’s main passion in life was writing, and during his time at the seminary, he wrote a poem titled “The Philosopher Pyun Hae Soo” about his favorite professor at UTS, which was published in the book Passages of the Heart: Poetry of the Unification Movement. He also wrote chapters for other religious publications.

After UTS, Robert worked for the church in various places along the east coast as a city leader, state leader, and campus minister. 
As part of his mission work, Robert also traveled to Korea, Japan, Uganda, Russia, and Israel. 
Robert had three bookstores in New York with partners Randy Ham, Gregg Noll, George Kise, Peter Duveen, and others. In 1987, 

Robert was matched to Noriko Ishizuka at the New Yorker Hotel. 
On January 12, 1989, they were blessed in South Korea. They have three children.

Robert and I were extreme opposites.

Robert grew up in Manhattan, New York City.

I grew up on a small rice farm in a Japanese village of 16 families.

He loved books.

I used to hate books.

He loved bread.

I love rice.

He walked and drove slowly.

I walk and drive fast.

He was gentle.

I am rough.

Everything is opposite.

But we had 2 things in common:
1. We love God.
2. Both of us were Food Addicts.

When God put Robert and I together, He was smiling, "Hmm, what can I do with putting these two extreme opposites together?" I think God did a Good Job, because we have 3 wonderful children and an amazing son-in-law.

When our children were growing up, our refrigerator was often empty. Clothes were passed down from Hans to Yoko to Jacques.

Robert and I were Matched and Blessed by the Lord of the Second Advent, Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

Robert understood the Three Kingships. 

The 2nd King, who is the youngest son of True Father, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, is the heir and successor.

So, we have the direct lineage of the Second Coming on this Earth.

When Robert really understood the true meaning of Cain and Abel unity, he sobbed in appreciation, especially for Kook Jin Nim, because he realized it would unite the world. Robert and I are working for this reason. 

We were poor, but how could we ask to be richer than this?

Robert is so lucky to go to the spiritual world knowing this.

I am proud of you Pop!

I would like to share one more testimony about Robert. 

In May of last year, Robert was diagnosed with neck cancer. At that time, I was often crying. One night I was dozing off in my kitchen. Suddenly, I heard a voice “Noriko!” Is Robert calling me? He is sleeping in bed. So, it must be God. I answered, “Father!” Then God told me, “I will heal Robert. Don’t worry. Trust me. You didn’t have so much joy before, but from now on, you will have joy with Robert.” 

So, we believed his cancer would be cured.

We moved here from Albany, NY last November because all our 3 children and son-in-law were here at the time.

Since he began going to the doctor here and treating his cancer, his love for God increased tremendously. He was talking about Heavenly Father and talking with Heavenly Father all the time. Robert did not call him God anymore. He only called him Heavenly Father. 

Even while vomiting, he was talking and listening to Heavenly Father.

His cancer progressed and spread to his brain. So he was losing his ability to walk, to see, to talk, to taste, and to swallow, little by little. The last two months of his life, he was just lying in bed. He became like a baby.

When Robert was in Hospice Care, we received incredible love and support from Hospice Care staff, the LDS church, our family, and friends from all around the world. We especially appreciated our Hospice nurse, who educated me and my children how to take care of Robert. We could not have asked for a better nurse. Also, our daughter Yoko is an occupational therapist. She prepared everything Robert needed.

This nurse, with 20 years of hospice experience, told me after Robert passed away that she never saw a patient receive as much love and care from his caregivers as we gave to Robert.

Heavenly Father and Robert didn’t give us any scary symptoms that are common at the end of life. He passed away as peacefully as we could imagine.

God told me, “I will heal Robert.” God healed my relationship with Robert, as well as our relationship with our children. Our son Jacques said, “I had resentment towards you and Pop when I was growing up, but I don’t have it anymore.”

Also, Robert embraced everybody. He strongly believed our divided movement will be healed and united, centering on the Three Kingships, in the future. I witnessed the amazing love of Heavenly Father and Robert during this time.

Noriko Chaumont

After my husband Robert passed away, we had 11 days until his Seonghwa. Our children and I prepared a slideshow with pictures of Robert along with his favorite music, “Sailing To Philadelphia” by Mark Knopfler. I watched the slideshow everyday over and over, hundreds and thousands of times. I came to fall in love with him, especially when he was around 40 years old. I am sure he will be at that age when I meet him in the spiritual world. I don’t know what age I will be.

To be honest, I had terrible, horrible resentment toward Robert until 2 months before he passed away. I was often accusing him, yelling at him even though I knew he was going to die soon. I felt I was worse than Judas who betrayed Jesus.

But God, Heavenly Father, just out of His Mercy scooped me up from the bottom of the swamp to the level of Heaven. Now my love for Robert is immense and incredible!

As I wrote in my Seonghwa testimony, it was true when God told me, after Robert was diagnosed with cancer, “You will have joy together with Robert.”
